Onion Torshi (ترشی پیاز), also known as onion pickles, is a type of torshi that is appreciated by many for its petite white onion pearls that bring elegance to your table as part of a cheese plate or side of a dish. HK's Onion Torshi has an emphasis on being crunchy, light and presentable. This torshi is also vegan, gluten-free, GMO-free and handmade with no preservatives. 

Similar to HK's other torshis, fresh organic ingredients are mixed with the onion pearls in a large container. At this stage, our organic waste is composted. The pearls are then mixed in apple cider vinegar mixture and hand-packed into jars. Of course, they are delicately fermented over a period of 7 days so that the pickles mature into pearls with beautiful pink hue on them. For HK team, making Onion Torshi takes around 12 hours to complete.

HK's Onion Torshi is extremely versatile so there are a plethora of ways to eat it! Our favourite way to snack on Onion Torshi is next to Italian pasta dishes or on your cheese board or charcuterie tray. Otherwise, try eating HK's Onion Torshi next to stews, soups and savoury dishes. You can stuff the onions in grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers, cut and put on top of hot dogs and tacos, or have it with meats. Up to 12 months unopened. Up to 12 months opened as long as you keep sealed tightly in the refrigerator and use only with clean utensils. Like many fermented foods, our best before dates are conservative and torshi never goes bad, it just becomes more sour and less crunchy. HK's Torshi is a living product that will continue to develop in flavor and complexity.
